Joe Holston Memorial Golf Tournament Carries Forward a Legacy of Giving

Friends, family and community supporters host Golf Tournament to honor longtime Big Brothers Big Sisters champion Joe Holston

Harrisburg, PA [October 2, 2026] Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA (BBBSSCPA), together with the family and friends of the late Joe Holston, gathered on October 1 for the inaugural Joe Holston Memorial Golf Tournament, celebrating a man whose commitment to the organization and the young people it serves spanned four decades.

Joe was more than a supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. A former member of the BBBSSCPA Board of Directors and longtime champion of its mission, Joe continually found ways to turn his love of golf into meaningful support for youth mentorship.

In 2020, Joe launched his annual golf marathon fundraiser benefiting BBBSSCPA. Each year, he pushed himself a little further, golfing from before dawn until dark and eventually completing more than 100 holes in a single day. Through those challenges and the generosity of friends, fellow golfers and community supporters, Joe raised more than $100,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA and its one-to-one mentoring programs.

Joe’s family and friends have carried that commitment forward. The Joe Holston Memorial Golf Tournament was created not only to remember Joe, but to continue the work that meant so much to him. In a fitting tribute to Joe’s legendary golf challenges, this year’s scramble came with a twist: each player in a foursome used only three of their own clubs throughout the tournament. Joe, naturally, made everyone else’s golf game look unnecessarily well-equipped, completing his final marathon challenge with just two clubs.

Through this inaugural tournament, Joe’s passion for philanthropy will continue to create opportunities for young people throughout South-Central Pennsylvania. All proceeds from the tournament benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA.

For BBBSSCPA, the tournament is a reminder that Joe’s impact extends far beyond the rounds he played or the dollars he raised. His legacy lives on through the people he inspired, the friends and family who are continuing what he started, and the young people whose lives are changed through mentorship.
